Why choose this Philippines tour ?
Nested in the northern Mindanao, Philippines, is a pear-shaped volcanic island of Camiguin, aptly called as the “Island Born of Fire”. It is roughly 100 kilometers north of Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental.
It can be considered as the Hawaii of the South East Asia as this island was created by volcanic eruptions and land movements. It has a total of seven volcanoes, one of which is the active Mount Hibok-Hibok that last erupted in 1953. Having been blessed by natural wonders and historical treasures, the island is truly a paradise. Among the most famous landmarks of Camiguin is an uninhabited white island that is around two kilometers off the shore of Agoho. It is actually a sandbar that offers a picturesque view of Mt. Hibok-Hibok. This sandbar submerges substantially during high tides.

Katibawasan Falls is a stunning waterfall on Camiguin island in the Philippines. Surrounded by mountains, the massive Katibawasan cascade is fed by streams of water that make their way along Mount Timpoong, the highest peak on Camiguin.
A 70 meter cascade plunges down into a pool wrapped in dense jungle and leafy trees.
The sheer size of this fall and the surrounding landscape made us feel so small as we stood staring in awe. We would easily say that Katibawasan is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Philippines.
Ardent Hot Spring is one of Camiguin’s hot springs and the most popular on Camiguin Island near the tourist beaches of Agoho and Yumbing, in the mountainside of the famous Mt.Hibok-Hibok volcano, which supplies the hot and crystal clear water. It was a natural pool with the waters truly hot especially at the depthless point. The pool itself underwent beautification with the sides landscaped with natural stone formation, huge tropical trees, shrubs and decorative plants. The pool is now four-tiered with varying depths and warmth with the hottest still at the top. Stone pathways were created under tall tropical trees with shrubs and flowering plants at both sides.
Dipping into the pool and take in the serenity of your surroundings. For sure, you will feel rejuvenated in both mind and body. Joint pains and muscles aches will be alleviated. Your tiredness will disappear! Enjoy the waters at any time although best in early morning and late evening. The spring is a boon even on rainy days
Just before you reach The Sunken Cemetery, you could drop by this beautiful gem along the way. Tongatok Cove is another stunning spot in Camiguin. It overlooks a picturesque view of the ocean and lush rainforest that stands along the cove.
The viewpoint is just along the main road so it’s easy to access, but at the same time can be easily missed. It’s best to use Google Maps and search for “Chan Lookout Point” which is the exact pin location of the viewpoint.
For history lovers, the Gui-Ob Church Ruins are one of the oldest ruins in the country that still stand to this day. Like most old churches in the Philippines, it was constructed with coral stones and was a major structure where locals could hold weddings, baptisms, funerals, and masses. However, the church was heavily damaged in 1871 when Mt. Vulcan erupted for the third time. Following the explosion of lava, the church was reduced to the ruins you can see today.
Upon visiting the ruins, most visitors light a candle before entering the grounds and offer a prayer for the lives lost during the tragedy. Along with this, you can also take the time to snap photos by the ruins and learn about the history of the church.
Tuasan Falls is one of Camiguin‘s well-kept treasures that would surely delight its visitors. Its crystal clear water covers a wide area that’s ideal for swimming. Filled with rich vegetation, you can swim here with great pleasure as you immerse yourself deep in nature’s presence. Enjoy nature’s harmonious music with Tuasan Fall’s wild splashing sound, the song of the birds and the soft mellow from the insects.
A large section of the area has shallow water that’s ideal for kids. Those who are looking for a challenge can swim near the center of the falls where the water gets deeper. The sight of its visitors’ happy faces could entice anyone to join their party and share the fun and excitement of swimming in this sweet slice of paradise.
Bura Soda Water Swimming Pool is one of the more interesting Camiguin tourist spots that you can’t miss on your Camiguin itinerary.
The Soda Water Swimming Pool can be found in Catarman which is a 25-minute drive from Mambajao and the entrance fee is 50 pesos. It’s actually attached to a resort but also open to the public.
A large swimming pool welcomes you as you arrive at the Bura Soda Water Spring though it is not bubbling as you may have expected. However, the crystalline water is incredibly clean and fresh as the flow of water from the mountains is constant. Set down your belongings in one of the poolside huts and jump on in to cool off!
The Sunken Cemetery is one of the popular tourist spots in Camiguin Island, Philippines.
During the volcanic birth of Mt. Vulcan that lasted from 1871 to about 1875, some areas in the town of Bonbon subsided, sinking the cemetery of the town to below sea level. The place is commemorated by a huge cross erected in 1982*
There is a cross-marker in the sea marking the spot of the actual cemetery. This is reachable by boat, though the actual graves are already covered in lava and corals. From the marker there is a nice view of the mountains in the Camiguin mainland.
